How To Start A Blog Stress-Free With Lyrical Host

Do you want to become a blogger, but have no idea how to start a blog? Or maybe you have begun the journey but are struggling to navigate domains, web-development and SEO. Just a year and a half ago, I was in the same position. I researched and researched, fumbling my way through the process building my blog. Wasting time and quite a bit of money self-hosting with WordPress, struggling to gain traffic and achieve my goals, before I was recommended Lyrical Host by a friend.

I have now been with Lyrical Host for 10 months, and can safely say they are the reason I am still blogging – and loving it. In this blog post I share my honest experience with Lyrical Host, their key features and how to start a blog with their support.

*Disclosure: This post contains my Lyrical Host affiliate link and discount code. I receive a commission if you visit the link and buy a hosting plan on my recommendation, or enter my discount code at checkout. This doesn’t cost you any extra, and I only recommend services I have tested, 100% trust and use myself. All opinions are my own. For more details see my disclosure policy and privacy policy.*

If you’re reading this blog, you are likely either here because you want tips for starting a blog, to move to self-hosted, to change hosts or maybe you are in search of cheap WordPress hosting. I have therefore tailored this post with these goals in mind, but if you have any questions I haven’t answered, please don’t hesitate to message me and I’ll be happy to help.

Lyrical Host key features

Lyrical Host is essentially everything you need, and nothing you don’t. Here are the key features they offer all customers.

Clear tiered hosting plans

When choosing Lyrical Host you can choose from one of three plans dependant on your website needs. Their staff do not have sales targets, and they will never try to upsell you a package you don’t need. All of the hosting plans include all the features and services you need: SSL certificates, email addresses, automatic daily backups, automatic WordPress core updates (on WordPress plans), one-to-one developer-grade support, free resources, free masterclasses, and much more. See the hosting plans on their website.

Excellent value, affordable plans

I refuse to use the word cheap, because there are cheaper hosting providers out there which charge a couple of pounds a month for a poor service. Lyrical Host offer a service comparable to the premium end of the market, but at a fraction of the cost. The pricing below was correct as of 24/05/2022.

Tiny Plan = £13.99/$19.28/€16.29 a month (this is the plan I use).

Mighty Plan = £21.99/$30.31/€25.60 a month.

Boss Plan = £29.99/$41.43/€34.92 a month.

Pay month-to-month with the prices above or save by paying yearly – the choice is yours. There are no lock-in contracts, soul-destroying commitments or misleading prices.

Get 10% off by entering my affiliate discount code SISTABLISS10 at checkout. (I can assure you I am sharing this post because I genuinely love this service, so much that I recommended it to my mum and uncle who now use and love Lyrical Host for their businesses.)

Free Migration

Lyrical Host will move your existing websites (and any email you have) with no risk to your files and no downtime, even from Blogger or WordPress.com. You simply book in a free migration with their team after you have purchased your plan online. This was invaluable for me, they even helped me choose and install a new template as mine wasn’t compatible with self-hosting.

WordPress Platform

Designed just for WordPress, their WordPress platform has integrated security features and custom caching to ensure you get the best speed and reliability straight out of the box. They also supply video tutorials, guides, and masterclasses if you’re new to WordPress, and it comes preinstalled for you so there’s nothing you need to buy or install.

High quality hardware, systems, and network

All servers are kitted out with Samsung SSDs, and Lyrical Host provide full SSD hosting on all plans as standard. Their systems, platforms, and networks have been designed by some of the best people in the hosting industry, and all servers are nestled securely in a state-of-the-art data center with 24/7 engineers.

User friendly control panel

The website and control panel is incredibly easy to navigate, even I (not tech-savvy) can create a new email address and forwarder in seconds.

Why you should choose lyrical host graphic.

Second-to-none support

The BIGGEST selling point for me. The support Lyrical Host provide is beyond anything you would expect from a hosting company. They have a support platform within the website to log tickets for support, you can message them on Facebook or ask questions in the customers Facebook group. In my experience, I have help on the way in minutes, even on a Sunday evening.

The team appear to genuinely care about their customers, and get to know them and their websites like friends. I have always received support from the same member of the team, who has jumped to my aid when i’ve been totally stuck on a task or have an urgent issue. They either fix it for you in a flash, or explain how to do it yourself if preferred in a really clear non-jargon or patronising manner.

You can be a total beginner with zero knowledge of how to start a blog, and build an amazing website you love in days with Lyrical Host.

Free resources

Lyrical Host provide a members only resource portal full of really useful free resources, such as stock images, blog post ideas, social media templates and hand drawn illustrations. You will find everything you need to learn how to start a successful blog!

Affiliate program

Lyrical Host know they offer an unrivalled service which every customer is going to love and want to recommend. So they give all customers access to an affiliate dashboard where you can earn a commission when you recommend new customers. To give you an example of income, you can make £15 from just one person purchasing a Tiny Plan!

Lyrical Host also provide you will the tools to become a successful affiliate, with a portal of helpful resources. This is fantastic experience for a new blogger to learn and navigate affiliate marketing and blog monetisation.

Supporting good causes

I have yet to come across another hosting company who plant a tree on your website anniversary. Or as Lyrical Host call it, your anniversa-tree! On your Lyrical Host anniversary they plant a tree to offset carbon emission.

Despite their fees being incredibly excellent value, they donate a percentage to non-profits and charities all over the world. Causes previously supported include children’s education in Mozambique, and mental health help for people across Africa and Asia.

You know the stacks of resources I mentioned earlier? Lyrical Host commission and support independent professional creatives, including photographers, designers, and illustrators, to create the beautiful custom resources.

How to start a blog stress-free with Lyrical host

How to start a blog with Lyrical Host

So now you know the main features, here are the next steps to get set up with Lyrical Host.

Set up a new website

Use these instructions if you are starting from scratch. This means you do not have an existing website in any form to migrate to Lyrical Host.

  1. Head to Lyrical Host’s website
  2. Click ‘Order Hosting’
  3. Scroll down to the ‘Tiny Plan’ box and click the ‘Order Now’ button. This plan will be plenty for your new site.
  4. Next you’ll see a Domain Name options screen. If you don’t already own a domain (website) name you want to use, enter your preferred name option in the box and click ‘Check’ to see if it’s available to buy and register. This will be a yearly cost around the £10 mark. Once you’ve found an available name you’re happy with, click ‘Continue.’ If you do already have a domain name you want to use, choose the bottom option: “I already have a domain name I want to use. (Choose this option if a) you’ve booked a Website Migration or b) you’ll update your own name servers).” Then enter the first part of your domain name in the first box, and the extension (com, net, org or similar, without the . in front) in the second box.
  5. The next step is to choose your preferred billing cycle from the drop down menu. You can choose monthly, six monthly, or yearly billing. Once you’ve made your choice, click ‘Continue.’
  6. Check your order and add a discount code in the box. My affiliate code, SISTABLISS10, will get you 10% off your first hosting plan.
  7. Click ‘Check Out’, and enter your address and billing information. Check the box to agree to the terms, and then choose ‘Complete Order’.
  8. You’ll get a bunch of emails to confirm everything. The most important one is your Welcome email, which includes a link to all the getting started information you need. If you registered a new domain, you may also get a third party email asking you to confirm your ownership and point you at the right settings to hide your contact information from being displayed in a public directory.

You can then log into your dashboard and start exploring. I suggest submitting a ticket to the Lyrical Host’s support team for guidance building your new WordPress website.

Migrating an existing site to Lyrical Host

Lyrical Host will migrate your existing website at no extra cost from Blogger, WordPress.com, and most self-hosted WordPress hosts. You just pay for the plan and any new domains you would like. Follow the instructions below to learn how. The support team will migrate multiple sites. You’ll need to repeat step one and book a migration appointment for each site.

(For page builder sites such as Wix, you should follow the steps above and then submit a support ticket asking for assisted migration support).

  1. Read through the ‘moving in’ information carefully and scroll down to pick your migration date on the calendar and book it in by filling out the form.
  2. Then once booked, follow steps 1-8 from the ‘Set up a new website’ section above in this blog post.
  3. Once you have completed these steps, head back to the ‘moving in’ information and scroll down for instructions to raise a support ticket and send the drafted message to the support team.

I hope you found this blog post useful. If you are setting up your brand new blog – a huge congratulations and good luck! If you have any questions about the content in this post please do get in touch or alternatively contact the lovely Lyrical Host team.
