A gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness.
Richard Bach
Giving a loved one a gift is an opportunity to show them you really know them. To get creative and support their health and wellbeing. A great gift keeps on giving, that’s tailored to their personality and your friendship together. Enjoy these gift ideas to show your friends you care!
Instead of heading straight to google to search “gift ideas for friends”, start by writing a list of the things your friend likes, enjoys and needs. Maybe they’re stressed and would benefit from a gift to help them relax, sleep or organise their mind. Are they someone who is greatly impacted by their environment and would appreciate a gift for the home? Are they planning their future and striving to achieve goals and ambitions? Once you have your list, then you can start thinking about the perfect present. Check out these ideas on budget below and let the planning commence!

Relaxation kit

Got a spare shoe box hanging around your wardrobe? Choose a wrapping paper to cover the box and lid, or alternatively purchase a gift box roughly the same size. Fill the box with items and products for relaxation and good sleep. I like to include a bag of Epsom or Himalayan salts, a lavender pillow spray, magnesium oil spray, lavender candles and lavender temple balm. You could even include a small oil burner and essential oils, such as lavender for sleep, peppermint for headaches or sandalwood for stress.
Think about the person who will be receiving your gift. Consider what their specific needs are to ensure a personal and thoughtful gift.
Writing for the soul

I love giving gifts which support mindfulness and achieving goals. Kikki K have a lush range of journals and planners which do just that, but there are lots of brands out there who make similar products. Planners are fantastic for organising your life, achieving goals and keeping motivated, making them a wonderful gift. Kikki K offer notebooks with a difference which include written exercises, motivational quotes and templates for various purposes including achieving goals, happiness, mindfulness and much more.
Those are a few of my favourite things
The gift box full of all your friends favourite things. There is nothing like happy memories to show a friend how much you know them. Fill it with photos, products, snacks, small gifts – anything that is personal to that person or your friendship.
Homemade gift ideas

“Make the present!” Remember Monica’s sock bunny? (If you don’t know this friends reference, get on Netflix ASAP). Making a gift can seem quite daunting, but there are plenty of simple ideas which show you care without breaking the bank. Try making candles from soy wax which doesn’t burn toxic chemicals like paraffin candles do. Add essential oils of your choice, personalising for the recipient. You can find all the supplies at Hobbycraft or online.
Foodie? Bake some cookies, brownies or chocolate truffles and present them in a decorated gift box or bag.
A photo says a thousand words
Pick up a big aperture photo frame for under £20. Fill it with your favourite photos of happy times spent together. There are also loads of apps out there to order prints straight from your phone. My favourite is Free Prints (45 standard prints free a month, you just pay a few pounds for postage). You could even write the location, date, and a line or 2 about the day, on the back of each photo.
The gift of life

Flowers are a lovely gift, but a plant lasts much longer. Indoor plants have a wealth of health benefits and bring colour and joy to a house for months or even years (if looked after ofcourse!) Check out my recent blog post Indoor Plants for the Soul for the benefits of house plants and suggestions.
My particular favourite plant to give as a gift is a peace lily. A plant which not only produces beautiful flowers, but also detoxifies the air from many harmful chemicals.
