If you are a keen follower of my blog, you will know I love aromatherapy products, particularly for sleep and relaxation. A couple of weeks ago Scentered very kindly sent me a PR Sample of their De-Stress Aromatherapy balm to test out and give an honest review. As work and home life has been spiking my stress levels as of late, this delivery couldn’t have arrived at a better time. After applying the product on my wrists daily for two weeks, I can give an honest comprehensive review.

If there was ever a time to need a little help to de-stress, it’s during a global pandemic right? We may not be able to solve all our problems with essential oils (although wouldn’t that be amazing), but they can certainly help us to control and improve our mindset – and maybe make us better prepared to deal with what life throws our way. This De-Stress Aromatherapy Balm is introduced on the Scentered website as follows:
“DE-STRESS our remarkably soothing blend to help you juggle more throughout your day, keeping you calm and in control. It’s your portable companion to support you through life’s everyday journey. Our 100% natural, essential oil based Aromatherapy Balm is mess-free and won’t leak or spill in your bag. Use DE-STRESS as part of our Wellbeing Ritual.”
Texture
The fact that they mention that the aromatherapy balm won’t leak in your bag tells me they have done their research. I was the not-so-proud owner of a roll-on aromatherapy oil (a cheap purchase from TK Maxx) for a short while, which has left it’s permanent oily mark in two of my handbags and my bedside table drawer! So the balm form of this product is extremely welcome.
The perfect consistency to glide across your skin without leaving greasy residue. It also doesn’t leave a shiny look behind, so you can rub it on your visible pulse points without any trace.
Scent
There are six different scents in this range of aromatherapy balms for different purposes (see the full range). I have tried the De-Stress Balm, scented with chamomile, neroli and mandarin. It’s an incredibly sweet citrusy smell, that reminds me of spa treatments and general relaxing vibes! A hint of minty freshness compliments the sweetness, preventing the scent from being too sickly. Although it does smell good enough to eat, it is definitely not for consumption.
Aromatherapy balm benefits
Each balm contains many natural essential oils which are delivered directly into the bloodstream via topical application to pulse points or inhaling the scents. Once absorbed or inhaled into the body, Scentered claim ‘the constituent molecules journey to specific sites, effecting a variety of benefits on our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.’ Depending on the balm chosen, these benefits may include a reduction in feelings of stress, improved sleep, increased focus or a boosted mood.
In addition to the more scientific benefits, their products all encourage us to take a break, a deep breath and a peaceful moment of mindfulness. I definitely felt calmer and more motivated/able to look after my mental health after using this product. There’s just something about the smell that tells my brain it’s time to slow down and care for myself.

Ethical standards
Scentered confirm on their website that they do not test their products or use ingredients which are tested on animals. As many of their products including balms contain beeswax, they are not vegan. All ingredients are naturally derived, but not organic due to the restricted offering of organic essential oils.
A British company, Scentered makes their products in England from recyclable materials.
Price and value
Having tried a range of products in the past of varying values, due to the quality I would define this aromatherapy balm as being a higher-end product. Priced from £14.50 (on the Scentered website as of 10/09/20) it is slightly more expensive than other brands I have tried, but is by far the best. For a British made, eco friendly, naturally derived aromatherapy product full of quality essential oils, I think this is excellent value.
Overall opinion
A really lovely treat for yourself, or a special gift for a friend. I love that there are six different scents in the range, allowing you to choose a aromatherapy balm personal to the user. For example the Focus balm would be a thoughtful gift to help someone ace their exams, a Sleep Well balm for a new mum or a Love balm for a newly engaged girl-friend.
It’s so refreshing to try a genuinely excellent quality product that I can’t fault and would happily recommend to friends and family.
You can purchase any of the six scents in the range direct or on Amazon (free delivery on orders over £20). I want to try them all!

This sounds amazing! I love that it’s a balm because I’ve definitely experienced the same problem you had with essential oils leaking. It’s the worst! I will have to try the de-stress – I can see this being very beneficial during the workday.
I agree we all need a little self-healing at this time, and i love the idea of this as a gift, especially for someone’s special birthday. Love you blogs, keep them coming x
I love the idea of aromatherapy in a balm like this. I have also fallen victim to the staining that comes from oils leaking in your bag. I haven’t seen a product like this before, but I think I need to try it out! After all, we could all use a little de-stressing in our lives. Right? Especially with everything going on in the world today!
Great tips!
